Wednesday, February 8, we will be fortunate to have Rev. Dr. Jonathan and Deaconess Cheryl Naumann visit our church.  They will be doing a presentation during Wednesday Morning Bible Study time 9:30-10:30AM.  A free will offering will be collected following church.  Rev. Dr. Jonathan and Deaconess Cheryl Naumann serve in the Dominican Republic.  All are invited to attend.

Rev. Dr. Jonathan and Deaconess Cheryl Naumann

Rev. Dr. Jonathan and Deaconess Cheryl Naumann serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as career missionaries in the Dominican Republic. Jonathan serves as the Latin America and the Caribbean regional chaplain, providing pastoral care to the LCMS missionaries who serve in over ten countries in this region. He also assists in the theological education offered at the LCMS Latin America seminaries. As a mercy deaconess, Cheryl teaches and mentors women of the Dominican Republic to share the Gospel, as well as acts of mercy, with their neighbors. She also works with deaconesses in Latin America houses of mercy.

Jonathan was born in Springfield, Ill., but also considers London, England, to be home. He received a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich., and his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. He earned his doctorate degree from Glasgow University, Scotland. Jonathan has served as a pastor at St. Columba Lutheran Church, East Kilbride, Scotland; at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Ruislip, England; and, most recently, at Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, Oakmont, Pa. He has worked extensively with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England and has theologically educated students in the United States and abroad.

Cheryl’s hometown is Bremerton, Wash. She received a bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind., on May 20, 1979, and was consecrated as a Lutheran Deaconess that same day. She also earned a master’s degree in theology from Glasgow University, Scotland. Cheryl has served as a deaconess at the Lutheran Home for the Aged, Kendallville, Ind.; at St. Columba Lutheran Church, East Kilbride, Scotland; at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Ruislip, England; and, most recently, at Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, Oakmont, Pa. Over the years, Cheryl has worked as a freelance writer and editor, authoring two of her own books, and has guest taught in the Dominican Republic and Monrovia, Liberia. Jonathan and Cheryl have six adult children and 15 grandchildren.
